Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Monday. February 15th. The 2nd day of the Hebraic week.
Our verse today is 1 Sam. 3:10.
YHWH came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”
We know that this was the fourth time that YHWH had spoken to Samuel as the first three times Samuel went in to Eli thinking it was him who was calling him. Samuel was a young boy and just learning under Eli. Verse one in this chapter tells us that hearing a word from YHWH was very rare in those days and there weren’t many visions.
Now the obvious question is, are we listening to YHWH today? Please remember that there is a big difference between hearing and listening. Hearing just happens. We hear things all the time whether we want to hear them or not. Yet. listening takes effort. Listening is the action of applying oneself to hearing better.
If ever you hear YHWH speaking to you, either to your heart or audibly, start listening. At that moment, make it a point to not let a second go by that you aren’t striving to listen to every word He says to you. Set every distraction to the side and focus on Him.
YHWH does not change. He can speak to His people today just as He did in Samuel’s time. Make it a point to be that one who is willing to listen no matter the cost.
Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
