Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Monday. February 29th. The 2nd day of the Hebraic week.
Our verse today is 1 Peter 5:9.
Picking up from yesterday’s devotion, we are told here to resist the devil by standing firm in the faith. I can’t help but wonder if the seventh chapter of Isaiah was coming to mind for Peter when he wrote these words? Consider what Isaiah said about standing firm in the faith.
“…If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.”
If we don’t stand firm, we won’t stand at all. Think of it this way, when your on a boat in rough waters, you have to hold on to something. If you don’t, you’ll be tossed all over the boat. Or worse, tossed over board.
I think it’s interesting that Peter says to resist the enemy because we know that our brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. We are not alone. It may seem that you are, but you aren’t.
All of us are given the same opportunity to overcome. The choice is ours, to fall prey to the enemy or stand firm in resistance. Make the choice to stand today and be numbered with those who rise above the enemy.
Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
