Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Monday January 18th. The 2nd day of the Hebraic week.
Our verses today is Isaiah 6:9, 10
He said, “Go and tell this people: “‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’ 10 Make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull and close their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.”
I wanted to cover this verse today because it just seems so out of place. I mean think about it. Why would YHWH NOT want His people to understand and turn and be healed? It just seems so opposite of what we see in the rest of scriptures right? Actually, no. Just as much as we know that YHWH is a compassionate, loving and caring God, we also know that He is a just God as well.
It is because He is just that we see these verses here in Isaiah. The people of Israel had been in rebellion. They had rejected YHWH over and over. As a result, they gave no other option to YHWH but for Him to bring down the wrath that they were deserving. They had exhausted the grace that YHWH had been extending. The time for judgement was at had.
May we never forget that just as much as He wants to give us grace in hopes for our repentance, He is forced to to bring the judgement when we continue in our rebellion.
Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
