Let the Fire Die – Proverbs 26:20
Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.
Without wood a fire goes out; without gossip a quarrel dies down.
Well, it doesn’t get any simpler than that. Without gossip a quarrel dies down. I find it interesting how this is paralleled to a fire. You see, you don’t have to be the one gossiping to keep gossip going just like you don’t have to be the one throwing wood on the fire to keep it going. You can be the one using the fire stoker. Pushing and prodding others to talk. Doing all you can in subtle ways to keep the “fire” going.
For what it’s worth, that’s allowing yourself to be used by the enemy. No one likes to hear that but it is what it is. If you are not working on bringing healing to a situation then you are bringing more harm to it. Keeping your mouth quiet and removing yourself is indeed helping in a gossip situation. Don’t fall prey to the enemy in keeping gossip stirred up.
Let the fire die out. Don’t help it stay alive in any way.
Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
