1 Corinthians 9:24 – Prize or Applause (April 29)

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Friday. April 29th. The 6th day of the Hebraic week.

Our verse today is 1 Corinthians 9:24.

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.

So are you running in such a way as to get the prize? Nobody knows that better than yourself. Oh, you can fool those around you. And at times you may even come close to fooling yourself. Yet, when it comes right down to it, you know what kind of race you are running. No matter how much a person may try to cover it up, deep down, they will always know.

Being sold out or giving it all you have to a cause or a ministry is one thing, but that doesn’t mean you are sold out or giving your all to your relationship with YHWH. On the outside, everything can be looking good. All the while the inside can be a different story. That doesn’t mean that everything is wrong. But, there can be things in our life that we know YHWH has pricked our heart on. If we don’t address those things, who are we really running for?

Let’s not let ourselves get so busy in the work God that we forget the God of the work. What we look like to others should be completely irrelevant to us. The only thing that should be driving us is the race that YHWH knows we are running. Run in such a way as to get the prize, not the applause.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
