1 Corinthians 9:25 – What have I accomplished? (April 30)

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Saturday. April 30th. The 7h day of the Hebraic week. And everybody says “HalleluYah!”

Our verse today is 1 Corinthians 9:25.

Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.

Continuing on from yesterday’s devotion, verse 25 here tells us how those who compete in games place themselves in strict training. I’m sure we’ve all seen these individuals before. You know, like in the olympics. These people are at the top of their game. Umm, no pun intended.

They simply do amazing things. Especially in the gymnastics arena. I remember watching them years ago and thinking “How do they do that?” The strength. The agility. The balance. Doing a flip on a thin piece of wood four feet off the ground and landing back on that piece of wood. I mean, really? How in the world?

And they do it all for a crown that will not last. Think about that for second. Everything they do is amazing in the physical. I agree. Yet, all their efforts gains them only something that will fade. Something that can be stolen. Are your efforts in life only gaining you “things” in this life? At the end of each day, do you ask yourself “What have I accomplished?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
