1 John 2:15 – Love of the Father (July 24)

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Sunday. July 24th. The 1st day of the Hebraic week.

Our verse today is 1 John 2:15.

1 John 2:15
Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

These are some pretty strong words. But just what is the love of the world? To find this out, let’s read the following verse.

16 For everything in the world – the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does – comes not from the Father but from the world.

It would seem there are 3 basic categories of “worldly” things. Sinful cravings. Lust of the eyes. And boasting. Listen to those one more time. Sinful cravings. Lust of the eyes. And boasting. John tells us that if we have these in our life, the love of the Father is not in us.

Wow. Think about that. If you have any of these three things in your life, you do not have the love of the Father. I would strongly encourage you to literally write these three things down and search your life closely today. If you want the love of the Father in your life, get rid of these today! Sinful cravings. Lust of the eyes. And boasting.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
