1 John 2:17 – Things that Pass (July 25)

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Monday. July 25th. The 2nd day of the Hebraic week.

Our verse today is 1 John 2:17.

1 John 2:17
The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.

Everything this world has to offer is all summed up in one word. That word is “Temporary”. Here today, gone tomorrow in the light of eternity. The problem is that many don’t have eternity in light. They don’t have their focus on the eternal. They are focused on the here and now. What they can achieve in this life that lasts just a short while.

Yet, just as time passes, the things of this world pass. Fads come and go. Styles change. There will always be something new to come along. Thus, making that which was new yesterday, old today. That which satisfied today, is gone tomorrow.

The world is good at making everything it puts forth look appealing. But it will never last. Never. It will never have the qualities that bring true joy to ones life. Oh, it will make many promises, but those promises are hollow. They’re empty. May the words of this verse echo in our heart.

Don’t waste time on things that pass. Let our focus be on the eternal.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
