1 Thessalonians 5:14 – 4 Things (August 15)

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Monday. August 15th. The second day of the Hebraic week.

Our verse today is 1 Thessalonians 5:14.

1 Thessalonians 5:14
14 And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone.

OK, this is such a short verse that it’s easy to just let it go through one ear and out the other before it even registers in the brain. Let’s read it one more time.

14 And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone.

So we see 4 things to work on. First we are to warn those who are idle. Warn them. Not condemn them.

Next, we are to encourage the timid. To encourage them to be strong. To see their potential in the midst of their fears.

Next, we are to help the weak. That means to, well, help the weak. Not cut them down. Not make fun of them but to help them. That takes effort and energy.

Lastly, but definitely not least, we are to be patient with everyone. To be patient with everyone.

Let that sink. To be patient. So, warn, encourage, help and be patient.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
