1 Thessalonians 5:22 – Every Kind (August 17)

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Wednesday. August 17th. The fourth day of the Hebraic week.

Our verse today is 1 Thessalonians 5:22.

1 Thessalonians 5:22
Avoid every kind of evil.

This verse is like driving through a small town. You blink and you miss everything. Let’s read it one more time to make sure you heard it all.

22 Avoid every kind of evil.

This verse is like a “High Voltage” sign you see on electrical boxes. You know it’s dangerous so no worries. However, what might appear as obvious to one may not appear as obvious to others. Thus, the need of the sign. Likewise, we see the need of the verse.

I don’t know about you, but telling someone to avoid every kind of evil is like telling them to avoid every pot hole. I mean, do you really need to tell people to avoid pot holes? Of course not. But for some reason, we do need to be told to avoid every kind of evil.

Why is that? Because we like to categorize evil. And of course the evil that is in your life isn’t near as bad as the evil that is “That person’s life.” Or is it?

22 Avoid every kind of evil.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
