1 Timothy 1:15 – The Worst (August 8)

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Monday. August 8th. The second day of the Hebraic week.

Our verse today is 1 Timothy 1:15.

1 Timothy 1:15
Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners – of whom I am the worst.

OK. Was Paul really the worst of sinners? Not likely. So what’s this showing us? It’s showing Pauls’ attitude. Not only was he not putting himself on a pedestal, he was humbling himself.

I mean, let’s face it. We’ve all had those moments when we just felt like the lowest of dirt. Yet, here’s Paul, they guy who wrote over half of the New Testament saying that he was the worst sinner. When in reality, most all of us know that we are the worst of sinners. Right?

So, what’s the point in all of this? Attitude. If the guy who wrote over half of the New Testament is considering himself the worst of sinners, where does that put us? Do you consider yourself the worst of sinners? Or do you consider yourself a little better than this person? Or maybe a little better than that one? Oh, and surely your better than that guy. Or, like Paul, do you humble yourself as the worst?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
