Apple of Your Eye – Proverbs 7:1-3

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Proverbs 7:1-3
My son, keep my words and store up my commands within you. Keep my commands and you will live; guard my teachings as the apple of your eye. Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.

What are the words and commands that the parents are to be teaching? What are the teachings the son is to make the apple of his eye? It’s quite easy actually. The Torah tells us specifically what the parents are to teach their children.

Deuteronomy 11:18-20
Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates…

So just as much as this verse in Proverbs is a reminder to those living with their parents, this is a reminder to the parents themselves also of what they are to be teaching. It’s the Torah.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout today. Until next time, Shalom
