Worthless – Proverbs 11:4

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Proverbs 11:4
Wealth is worthless in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.

Wealth should not be our focal point in life. This verse alone makes the point that when it all comes down, wealth is going down with the rest of the world and only the righteous will be saved.

I know, I know, your probably thinking “We’ve been hearing about the day of wrath for two thousand years now and we have to make a living.”

We agree that it has indeed been discussed for the last two thousand years and we do have to make a living. In fact, it’s our responsibility to provide for our families. But providing for our families does not mean that we have to be obtaining great wealth over pursing righteousness.

YHWH knows how to provide for our needs. Even David gives reference to this.

Psalm 37:25
I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.

The bottom line here is that we can’t let wealth be something that we hold on to tightly. Especially not letting it take priority over righteousness. Righteousness is what we should be making the priority in our life everyday.

4 Wealth is worthless in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout today. Until next time, Shalom.
