Prey – Proverbs 7:22-23

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Proverbs 7:22-23
All at once he followed her like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer stepping into a noose till an arrow pierces his liver, like a bird darting into a snare, little knowing it will cost him his life.

This verse is talking about a young man falling prey to temptation. Here we see it put into another person’s view. Yet, this is what can be said of any of us when we fall to sin. When tempted, we are focused on the pleasures of the sin, not realizing that sin is focusing on us as prey. This reminds me of the words Paul wrote to Timothy.

2 Timothy 2:22
Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

When you see temptation, run! Do all you can to avoid it. Otherwise we make ourselves look like a wild animal giving in to it’s desires. Only to have ourselves led to the slaughter. Only to have ourselves step into the trap and be shot with arrows.

Don’t give into sin. Be an overcomer. Walk the righteous path and avoid sin no matter the cost. Otherwise, it will cost more than you think.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
