Correction – Hebrews 12:7

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Hebrews 12:7
Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?

We know that just as we discipline our children, discipline is truly needed. The author here is actually referencing Deuteronomy chapter 8. Verse 5 says.

Deuteronomy 8:5
Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so YHWH your God disciplines you.

Discipline. That word seems to carry such a negative connotation with it. However, it should be viewed through the scope of love. If we are not disciplined, that would mean He’s leaving us to our mistakes. Yet, because He loves us, He corrects us.

His correction can be little at times. Other times it can be somewhat difficult to take. If you have children, you know how they can respond to correction. Something you see as a fair punishment can be taken by them as something entirely devastating. Plus, if they have any drama skills, you would think the end of the world was coming by their reaction.

So the question is “How do you take YHWH’s correction?” Do you endure it like our verse says? Or does drama work it’s way to the surface?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
