Are You Greater? – John 13:16-17

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

John 13:16-17
I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

The context here is about serving one another. We will be blessed if we serve our fellow brothers and sisters. To humble ourselves and serve them. To follow in the example Yeshua gave us.

Yet, I have to confess that it’s verse 16 that makes me think. Again, it says “I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.” I can’t think of anyone, who is genuinely trying to follow YHWH, who would think of themselves greater than Yeshua.

Yet, if we don’t make it a priority to humble ourselves and make ourselves a servant to our fellow brothers and sisters, that’s what we’re doing. We’re making ourselves greater than our master. Though we would never say it with our mouth, our actions can declare quite definitively if we choose to not make ourselves a servant.

Again, verse 16, “I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.”

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
