Others – James 2:1

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

James 2:1
My brothers, as believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, don’t show favoritism.

Do you show favoritism? Before you answer, let’s read the following verses to our text and see what they say.

v2-4 Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in shabby clothes also comes in. If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, “Here’s a good seat for you,” but say to the poor man, “You stand there” or “Sit on the floor by my feet,” have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?

It’s clear that this is talking about discriminating against those who may not be financially set as others. However, is that the only way to show discrimination? No. Let’s say you hold to a particular calendar, while another holds to one that you believe is wrong. Are you going to discriminate against them? Don’t answer too quickly. What about someone who says our Heavenly Father’s name differently. What about them? There are multiple topics within the Faith that we can show discrimination towards others on.

May we always be cautious in how we treat others.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
