It’s Pure or It’s Mixed – James 3:9-10

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

James 3:9-10
With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be.

James brings out some thoughts that are often glanced over too quickly or not even looked into at all. Do you focus on what comes out of your mouth? Consider the following verses in how James continues.

11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? 12 My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

James is giving examples here to show it’s one or the other. These things can’t be mixed. The second salt water is mixed with fresh water it’s no longer fresh water. So how can one who gives praise to YHWH curse his brother? What does that do to the praise we offer in the eyes of YHWH?

That’s the key here. How YHWH sees things is what matters. We may be able to separate things in our view, but in the eyes of our Heavenly Father, it’s either all pure, or it’s mixed.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
