Envy – 1 Peter 2:1

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

1 Peter 2:1
Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind.

Today, let’s focus on the fourth item mentioned. That being envy. Envy is defined as a feeling of being discontented or a resentful longing aroused by someone else’s possessions, qualities, or even success. Ever had that before?

Interestingly enough, a lot of people cover it up in their pride. However, they still maintain an effort of trying to make themselves look as though they are better or have more. It’s in those efforts that can truly lead to an unhappy life. It’s a life of constant strife in trying to be on top. Constantly trying to have the best or be the best. Many times, however, the happiness that it produces is very shallow simply because it is so short lived. It’s all good until they see the next thing they have to be or obtain.

Envy comes from wanting to look or feel important to others. Many times one does not see this in their life until they’re alone. That’s when they realize who and what they really need. Is it time for you to get alone?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
