The Greatest – Luke 9:46-48

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Luke 9:46
An argument started among the disciples as to which of them would be the greatest. 47 Jesus, knowing their thoughts, took a little child and had him stand beside him. 48 Then he said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For he who is least among you all — he is the greatest.”

So here we see the disciples arguing amongst each other as to who would be the greatest. Maybe it’s just me, but that just seems so “Middle school.” Then, of course, Yeshua comes right along and silences the whole argument. In fact, I would say He did so in a way that most likely made them feel rather ashamed.

When we think about it, they were battling with pride. For some reason, that seems to be a battle for everyone at one point or another. We may think to ourselves that we don’t struggle with pride. For the most part, you may not. However, pride always seems to find a way to creep into our lives. So use caution and more than anything, be honest with yourself when examining your life for pride

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
