Psalm 90:12 – Numbering Our Days (April 28)

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Thursday. April 28th. The 5th day of the Hebraic week.

Our verse today is Psalm 90:12.

Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

Numbering our days. Not just numbering them but to make them right. To make them count. Do you do that? Do you look at what you have going on in your life or does life pass you by so fast that you can’t see the next turn?

When life get’s going so fast, and it happens to all of us, we tend to be relaxed and passive on spiritual things. Not that we want to. It’s just that we get so busy. It’s in those times that we really have to ask ourselves “Am I numbering my days or just living them?”

When we number them, we are more mindful of them. We realize that we aren’t guaranteed tomorrow so we need to make sure we make today count for the best we can. Yet, if we are living life in the fast lane, if we are busy cramming as much of the world that we can into our life, it seems that our spiritual priorities take a back seat.

I’m talking the priorities for a daily walk with YHWH. Spending time with Him. Focusing on the things in life that truly matter. The things in life that truly last forever. Gaining the wisdom to know the difference.

Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
