Don’t Worry – Matthew 6:31-34

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Matthew 6:31
So do not worry, saying, “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?” 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

I remember back in the 80’s a song came out titled “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”. It was a very carefree song with a fun Island music feel. The song grew in popularity rather quickly. So, is there anything wrong with that kind of song? Well, no. But, yes.

Here’s the thing. You can’t have verse 31, that says “Don’t worry”, without having verse 33 that says “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness”. To not worry is a great thing. Yet, only when we truly seek His kingdom and His righteousness are we truly enabled to not worry.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
