Discipline – Deuteronomy 8:5

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Deuteronomy 8:5
Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so YHWH your God disciplines you.

Though no one wants to be disciplined, these words should actually encourage us. YHWH doesn’t leave us to continue down a path of destruction when we make mistakes. He is right there to lovingly bring us right back to Him.

Now, it may not feel good at the moment. However, it’s much better to undergo His discipline than to undergo His wrath in the end. But what will our attitude be when we go through that discipline?

How many times have we seen children be punished for certain actions? How often did they carry a bitter attitude towards their parents during that punishment? If we maintain a similar attitude towards YHWH in our correction from Him, is there really any difference between us and those children?

If ever we receive discipline from YHWH, then we know we deserve it. That also means we have no right to be angry or bitter because of that discipline. Remember, He disciplines us for our good.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
