How Could They? – 1 Kings 11:11

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

1 Kings 11:11
So YHWH said to Solomon, “Since this is your attitude and you have not kept my covenant and my decrees, which I commanded you, I will most certainly tear the kingdom away from you and give it to one of your subordinates.”

These are extremely sad words to read. Yet, to understand why these words were spoken to Solomon, we need to read the previous verse.

10 Although he had forbidden Solomon to follow other gods, Solomon did not keep YHWH’s command.

YHWH had blessed Solomon with such great knowledge and wisdom, yet He still chose to rebel. He still chose to do the very things YHWH told him not to do. How easy it is for us to judge Solomon. Yet, are we really any different? Look how much the Father has blessed us. And yet, how often do we find ourselves wrestling with sin? How often do we not even wrestle with it?

The next time we ask “How could someone sin like that?” Maybe we need to look at our own sins first.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
