From the Heart – Matthew 5:28

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Matthew 5:28
But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

We know Yeshua could not add or take away from the Torah. But this is not found in the Torah anywhere. Or is it? We know He came to bring clarification to the Torah. But even then, what part of Torah is this bringing clarification to? Deuteronomy 6:5.

Deuteronomy 6:5
Love YHWH your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

If you obey YHWH in the physical only, that being your strength, and not obeying Him in your heart or soul, are you still obeying Him? The answer would be “No.” So Yeshua is clarifying that we are to obey YHWH not only in the physical, but in all that we are? Though one may not commit adultery in the physical, they could still do so in their heart. That, in turn, would mean that they are not Loving YHWH with their heart? Thus, breaking Deuteronomy 6:5.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
