Adultery – Proverbs 6:27-29

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Proverbs 6:27-29
Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his clothes being burned? Can a man walk on hot coals without his feet being scorched? So is he who sleeps with another man’s wife; no one who touches her will go unpunished.

If adultery is committed, there will be punishment. There is no way around it. Even if there are no witnesses, meaning nothing can be done by way of the law, there will still be consequences to pay. A prime example of that is King David with Bathsheba. No one knew about it. Therefore nothing in the Law could condemn him. However, YHWH knew what happened and the consequences came when Nathan the profit paid him a visit.

In Matthew 5:28, Yeshua said if anyone looks at a woman lustfully they have already committed adultery in his heart. So committing it mentally is the same in the eyes of YHWH.

It doesn’t take much reading in the prophets and Revelation to realize there is a spiritual adultery as well. In all three cases, physically, mentally, and spiritually, there are repercussions that one cannot avoid.

I can’t help but wonder if David had repented if Nathan would have even needed to go to him. Do you need to repent of it today? Don’t wait for YHWH to send you a prophet.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
