Buy Truth – Proverbs 23:23

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Proverbs 23:23
Buy the truth and do not sell it; get wisdom, discipline and understanding.

When looking at the Hebrew, we find this verse is better rendered as “Buy the truth and do not sell wisdom, discipline or understanding.” Meaning, don’t take one step forward and two steps back by getting one thing of value but then sell something of value. When you get something valuable, hold on to it.

We all know that there are some things in life that depreciate in value. Yet, truth, wisdom, discipline and understanding, are not some of those things. These are the things in life that we are to pursue after and buy.

To buy. That means to invest in. To give something up for them. To make a transaction of releasing something to gain another. Once we get them, never let them go. This reminds me of the parable that Yeshua mentioned in Matthew 13.

Matthew 13:44
The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.

He sold all he had. What are you willing to sell, meaning “give up”, to get Truth?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout today. Until tomorrow, Shalom.
