Covering Sin – Genesis 37:31-32

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Genesis 37:31
Then they got Joseph’s robe, slaughtered a goat and dipped the robe in the blood. 32 They took the ornamented robe back to their father and said, “We found this. Examine it to see whether it is your son’s robe.”

This is right after Josephs brothers sold him as a slave. They got rid of Joseph but now they had to cover it up. This wasn’t some small cover up. But that’s how it always seems to work. When we do something that we know we shouldn’t do, it only leads to us looking at how we will cover it up. This story of Joseph’s brothers is a prime example.

If you have to hide what you’re doing, chances are you shouldn’t be doing it. This is something we probably should write down and place it where we see on a regular basis. Not that we don’t already know it. Not that we aren’t convicted of it in the moment. However, we should give ourselves every reminder we can to keep us out of those circumstances ahead of time.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
