Distorting Paul – 2 Peter 3:15-16

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

2 Peter 3:15-16
Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

So here we have Peter saying Paul’s letters contain things that are hard to understand. Saying people distort his writings just as they do other Scriptures. After reading all of this, I can’t help but laugh. Here Peter explains that people of their time were distorting Paul’s writings. People who knew the culture. People who knew the idioms. Yet, they still distorted what he said.

The funny thing is, we are 2,000 years removed from that time period and so many want say they perfectly understand Paul’s writings. The sad part is, these are normally the people who say the Law has been done away with. They do so by using Paul’s writings. If they only knew they were repeating history.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
