Don’t be a Mocker – Proverbs 9:12

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Proverbs 9:12
If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you; if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer.

Solomon’s wisdom was known all over the world. Listen to 1 Kings 10:24 “The whole world sought audience with Solomon to hear the wisdom God had put in his heart.”

So it’s obvious that Solomon knew the value of seeking after wisdom and wanted his children to know and seek after it as well. The next part of this verse says “if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer.”

There can be several definitions found for who or what a “mocker” is. One of those definitions is found in Proverbs 21:24.

The proud and arrogant man – “Mocker” is his name; he behaves with overweening pride.

It seems evident that a mocker is one who speaks out of pride. Pride is a mockery before YHWH. In essence they are mimicking YHWH’s power and authority. They think they are the ones with the answers. We should walk in humility before our creator and not in arrogance. Be careful. You’re not as smart as you think you are.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout today. Until next time, Shalom.
