The Dream – Genesis 42:6

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Genesis 42:6
Now Joseph was the governor of the land, the one who sold grain to all its people. So when Joseph’s brothers arrived, they bowed down to him with their faces to the ground.

Joseph was 17 when his brothers sold him into slavery. He was thirty when he became second in command of Egypt. There was then 7 years of plenty and now at this point, they are two years into the 7 years of famine. This makes 22 years since Joseph’s brothers saw him last. He went from being a mere teenager to being a 39 year old man. Even if Joseph still had the same style of clothing his family had, there is little doubt his appearance had to be different. Thus, his brothers didn’t recognize him.

I can’t help but wonder what would have happened if they did recognize him. Would they still have bowed or would they have hardened their hearts. Either way, we know that Joseph’s first dream came to pass when His brothers bowed down to him. It may not of happened as Joseph anticipated, but it happened. Bottom line, stay faithful.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
