Esther 4:15 – If I Perish (July 21)

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Thursday. July 21st. The 5th day of the Hebraic week.

Our verses today are Esther 4:15, 16.

Esther 4:15, 16
Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: 16 “Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my maids will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”

If there is anything that I believe we can learn from this verse, it’s the willingness for the ultimate sacrifice in doing what is right. It wasn’t in wanting to be seen. It wasn’t in wanting to be remembered. It was in wanting to do what is right no matter what it was going to cost.

What is your motive in life? Is it to do what is right? Or to be seen doing what is right? Is it to do what is right no matter what? Or is to be congratulated for doing what is right?

Regardless of our personal outcome, our focus is to make sure that we stay faithful to him. To make sure that everyone sees Him in us. If that means we are to perish, then we perish.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
