Evil Deeds – Proverbs 5:22-23

The evil deeds of a wicked man ensnare him; the cords of his sin hold him fast. He will die for lack of discipline, led astray by his own great folly.
Many read this verse and assume the wicked man being referred to here is someone who has no regard for YHWH. However, this is not necessarily true. The same word that is used for wicked here is also used in Numbers 16:26 regarding Korah’s rebellion. We must remember Korah was a Levite. The point is this, a wicked man is not necessarily just someone who is of the world. It can be someone who is in the assembly.
Do you have sins that are holding on to you? Just because you claim the name does not mean you are truly free. Are you really free from your sins? Only you know the struggles you have. Be honest with yourself this day. Lying to ourselves will get us no where.
Let this prayer of David, a man after YHWH’s heart, be yours today.
Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression.
