Evil Amongst Us – Mark 1:21-26

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Mark 1:21-26
They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach. The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law. Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an evil spirit cried out, “What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are – the Holy One of God!” “Be quiet!” said Jesus sternly. “Come out of him!” The evil spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.

I’ve heard lots of messages about this. Yet, it’s verse 23 that I believe has been overlooked. It says “Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an evil spirit cried out.” It says it was a man in the synagogue. So who was this man? The bigger question is “Could there be evil amongst us today?” Absolutely. Be aware of your surroundings and always be on guard.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
