Faith and Deeds – James 2:14

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

James 2:14
What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him?

You can claim you have faith all you want. However, it’s your actions that prove your faith. There’s just no way around it. Just as verse 26 declares.

James 2:26
As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

This whole section of James chapter 2 discusses this in detail. James is trying to show how faith and deeds are to be in agreement and not independent of each other. In fact, James goes directly to Abraham, the father of the faith, as an example. Thus, we read in verses 21 and 22.

Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.

So is our faith and actions working together? If not, can we really say we have faith?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
