Father of the Faith – John 8:39

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

John 8:39
“Abraham is our father,” they answered. “If you were Abraham’s children,” said Jesus, “then you would do the things Abraham did.”

Many refer to Abraham as the father of the faith. And that is exactly what he is. The question is, are you walking in his faith? According to Yeshua, being a part of Israel is not being in the lineage of Abraham. It’s about being in the Faith of Abraham. That’s why Abraham is onsidered
the Father of the “Faith.” He is not called the Father of the Genealogy. He is the father of the Faith.

A person’s faith is determined by what they do. Consider our verse again

John 8:39
“Abraham is our father,” they answered. “If you were Abraham’s children,” said Jesus, “then you would do the things Abraham did.”

So we must do what Abraham did to be considered his children or for us to consider him our father in the faith. And so what was the Faith of Abraham? What did Abraham do?

Gen. 26:5
because Abraham obeyed me and kept my requirements, my commands, my decrees and my laws.”

According to Yeshua’s words, if we are Abraham’s children, we will do the things Abraham did. So are you a child of Abraham?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
