First Love – Revelation 2:4

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Revelation 2:4
Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love.

Just the sound of the words “You have forsaken your first love” can place images of people who have completely left the way. But let’s listen to some of the characteristics of the people in Ephesus who heard “You have forsaken your first love.”

Revelation 2:2
I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. 3 You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.

I don’t know about you but these sound like some good solid believers to me. They obviously were committed to good deeds and were persevering through hardships. They avoided wicked men and false apostles. Plus, they were still going strong in those elements without growing weary. Yet, these were the ones who left their first love. Where was their love for YHWH and others in their walk. How did they treat others? Better yet, how do you?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!

Here's something interesting to consider:
