Foolish or Prudent – Proverbs 12:16

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Proverbs 12:16
A fool shows his annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult.

So, have you ever showed that you were annoyed with someone the very moment that you were annoyed with them? Maybe it was a sigh of disgust. Rolling your eyes while turning your head the other way. Maybe it’s throwing out a quick jab of sarcasm. Whether you want to acknowledge it or not, it was an underhanded attempt to belittle the one who you were annoyed with.

Now, the hard truth of the matter is, the moment we succumb to that temptation, we are playing the role of a fool. Oh, remember, those aren’t my words. That’s straight from our verse.

16 A fool shows his annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult.

Now, let’s put yourself on the receiving end of someone’s annoyance. You can bring yourself down to that person’s standard and return their gesture in like manner or even take it a step farther. Or you can choose to be the prudent one and overlook the insult. The choice is yours. Be a fool, or be prudent.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout today. Until next time, Shalom
