Forever – 1 Peter 1:23-25

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

1 Peter 1:23-25
For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. For, “All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever.” And this is the word that was preached to you.

YHWH’s word stands forever. This is Peter quoting from Isaiah. Isaiah declared the word of YHWH stood forever. And then Peter says “And this is the word that was preached to you.” So the same word that Isaiah declared was forever, was preached to the readers of Peter’s letter. So what did Isaiah understand the word of YHWH to be? It was the Torah. Thus, it was the Torah that was preached to the readers of Peter’s letter.

Even if one wants to say the Torah wasn’t considered all of the word of YHWH, one can’t deny it at least consisted within it. If we say the Torah does not stand forever, then we make Isaiah out to be a false prophet.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
