Give it up! – Luke 14:33

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Luke 14:33
In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple.

Let’s let this sink in a little here. In fact, let’s read it again. “In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple.” Now, the verse starts out by saying “In the same way.” Well, what way is that? Let’s consider the previous verses to find out.

Luke 14:31-32
“Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Will he not first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand? If he is not able, he will send a delegation while the other is still a long way off and will ask for terms of peace.

There it is. Yeshua illustrates for us that just as a king with a lesser army should seek terms of peace with his enemy, we should seek terms of peace with YHWH. What are the terms? Giving up everything we have.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
