Hard Words to Say – Luke 9:23

Then he said to them all: “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and
take up his cross daily and follow me.
Though we have covered this verse already, I believe it’s worth looking into a little deeper. Think about it, dying to yourself daily. If there was one thing that is difficult for most all people, what do you think it would be? From my experience of being in ministry since I was 21, I would say it has to be forgiveness.
Yet, not just forgiving others. I’m also talking about asking for forgiveness. Have you ever wronged someone? The obvious answer for all of us should be “Yes.” Now, my question is “Have you asked for their forgiveness? Doesn’t matter how long ago it may be. If you ever owed someone an apology, what makes us think that time dissolves that obligation?
Do you have apologies that you owe people? Are you willing to humble yourself and ask for their forgiveness? Are you willing to die to your pride and say “I’m sorry?” We can make all the excuses we want, but we know when the Father says “Take up your cross.”
