Have Mercy – Psalm 51:1

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Psalm 51:1
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.

When you look at yourself in the mirror, what do you see? Do you see yourself as someone who is deserving? Or do you see yourself as someone who is in need of YHWH’s mercy? I think if we are all honest with ourselves, we know that we are in need of his mercy. Yet, is that our attitude in our prayers? Is that our attitude towards others. Is that our attitude in life as a whole?

If we make this verse our prayer every morning, what would our attitudes be like? Would they change? How would we look at others knowing how we should see ourselves?

It’s hard to be arrogant towards others when we remember that we ourselves are in need of mercy. These two verses put our life in true perspective. They truly show that the theme of our lives should be “Have mercy on me.”

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
