If You Will – Luke 1:5-6

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Luke 1:5
In the time of Herod king of Judea there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly division of Abijah; his wife Elizabeth was also a descendant of Aaron. 6 Both of them were upright in the sight of God, observing all the Lord’s commandments and regulations blamelessly.

How many times have we heard it is too difficult to obey YHWH’s commands? How many times have we heard people say that even Israel didn’t follow the Law because it was too hard? But here we see that both of John the Baptist’s parents followed the Law blamelessly.

Well, that changes everything just a little doesn’t it? Think of it this way, do we really think YHWH would command His children to do something that He knew they couldn’t do? Would you do that to your children? Wouldn’t that be considered mean?

YHWH gave His commands for our benefit. Not because He’s cruel. They are there because He loves us. When we pursue them, it’s showing we love Him back. It’s not “If you can obey.” It’s “If you will obey.”
