In Need – Matthew 6:5-6

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Matthew 6:5-6
And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Prayer should be in a private setting. Now, this doesn’t mean you can’t pray in public. However, when praying in public, you shouldn’t try to bring attention to yourself either.

Prayer is to be between you and the Father. No one else. Prayer is not something we brag about to others. It’s to happen as an unseen event and remain unknown as well. Our time in prayer is not a badge to be worn to show off to others. It’s something we humbly keep to ourselves.

When prayer becomes a spectator sport or that of trophies on a shelf to say “Look what I’ve done.” we then minimize prayer to self promotion and mock the true nature of what prayer really represents…. A person in need.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
