Isaiah 66:2 – The One He Esteems (April 17)

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Sunday. April 17th. The 1st day of the Hebraic week.

Our verse today is Isaiah 66:2.

Isaiah 66:2
“Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?” declares YHWH. “This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word.”

This is such a powerful verse. Think about it. He jut declares how everything came into being through Him. Yet, in all of His creation, he esteems the humble and contrite. The one who trembles at His word. The word for esteem in the Hebrew means to look toward.

It’s almost as if He’s saying “Out of all of this that I have made, these are the ones I set up on a shelf to look at. To admire. It’s not the majestic mountains. It’s not the brilliant light of the sun or the rolling clouds. It’s not the massive oceans that cover the majority of the earth. It’s nothing that we look at in awe. In fact, what He looks at in admiration could be considered the very things that the world looks down upon.

He who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at YHWH’s word. These are who YHWH values. Humble. Contrite in spirit. Trembles at YHWH’s word.

So, how does YHWH look to you?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
