James 1:19,20 – Sharing – part 1 (June 16)

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Thursday. June 16th. The 5th day of the Hebraic week.

Our verse today is James 1:21.

21 Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

This has been a verse that has been on my heart for some time now. Because I believe this is so important, let’s read the verse one more time to let it sink in.

21 Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

“Get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent”. What I’m about to say may offend some people. But please know that is not my intention. My prayer is that you will consider what is being said. We live in a fallen world. And it’s only getting worse. My question is “Why share the obvious?”

FaceBook is a great tool for sharing the Word. However, it has also become a tool for the enemy just the same. What is concerning me though is when believers share the sin of the world. It wasn’t too long ago that I saw a believer sharing a video about demonic possession growing. I personally refused to watch it. I didn’t want that in my house. That same day I saw another believer share an image of a popular young singer in clothing that was beyond vulgar. In fact I’m
thankful my children wasn’t standing at my computer when I saw it.

My first and only thought was “Why are they sharing these?” We are believers. We should have nothing to do with the deeds of the world. We’ll continue this thought tomorrow with the possible counterpoint. But until then, remember…

21 Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
