June 30 – John 8:39 – Father of the Faith

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Thursday. June 30th. The
5th day of the Hebraic week.

Our verse today is John 8:39.

“Abraham is our father,” they answered. “If you were Abraham’s children,” said Jesus, “then you
would do the things Abraham did.”

Many refer to Abraham as the father of the faith. And that is exactly what he is. The question is,
are you walking in his faith?

According to Yeshua, being a part of Israel is not being in lineage of Abraham. It’s about being in
the Faith of Abraham. That’s why Abraham is considered the Father of the “Faith”. He is not
called the Father of the Genealogy. He is the father of the Faith.

A person’s faith is determined by what they do. Consider our verse again.

John 8:39: “Abraham is our father,” they answered. “If you were Abraham’s children,” said Jesus, “then you would do the things Abraham did.”

So we must do what Abraham did to be considered his children or for us to consider him our
father in the faith. And so what was the Faith of Abraham? What did Abraham do?

Gen. 26:5: because Abraham obeyed me and kept my requirements, my commands, my decrees
and my laws.”

According to Yeshua’s words, if we are Abraham’s children, we will do the things Abraham did.
So are you a child of Abraham?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
