John 13:16,17 – Are You Greater? (May 30)

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Monday. May 30th. The 2nd day of the Hebraic week.

Our verses today is John 13:16,17.

John 13:16
I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

We read the previous verses to this yesterday and here we see in verse 17 that we will truly be blessed if we serve our fellow brothers and sisters. To humble ourselves and serve them. To follow in that example that He gave us.

Yet, I have to confess that it’s verse 16 that really makes me think. Again, it says “I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.” I can’t think of anyone, who is truly trying to follow YHWH, who would think of themselves greater than Yeshua.

Yet, if we don’t make it a priority to humble ourselves and make ourselves a servant to our fellow brothers and sisters, that’s what we’re doing. We’re making ourselves greater than our master. Though we would never say it with our mouth, our actions can declare quite definitively if we choose to not make ourselves a servant.

Again, verse 16, “I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.”

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
