Making Amends – Proverbs 14:9

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Proverbs 14:9
Fools mock at making amends for sin, but goodwill is found among the upright.

Have you ever done something wrong to someone? After you offended them and it was brought to your attention, what did you do? Did you blow it off and say to yourself “Oh. It wasn’t that big of a deal?” It may not have been to you, but does that really matter? I mean, you weren’t the one who was wronged.

Pride can be what keeps us from apologizing to someone. However, if a brother is offended, we’re suppose to go and make it right. According to Matthew 5:23-24, we’re suppose to make amends for what we did wrong.

Regardless of how small you feel the offense was, we are still obligated to make things right. Now it’s different if that brother or sister doesn’t want to make things right. But that doesn’t void your responsibility to at least try. You still have to do your part in making it right. If they choose to hold on to unforgiveness, that’s up to them.

Yeshua said we are to do this if we are offering our gift and then “remember” we offended someone. Have you ever remembered something like that? Of course you have. What did you do with that thought? I believe if we all just sat down for a few moments, it wouldn’t take long for a list to grow of the times we know we offended someone. Can you imagine what could happen in the body of Messiah if we all truly repented to one another of those sins as we are commanded?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout today. Until next time, Shalom.
