March 8

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Tuesday. March 8th. The 3rd day of the Hebraic week.

Our verse today is 1 Timothy 4:12

1 Timothy 4:12
Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.

Now we know that this is Paul talking to young Timothy here. Many seem to apply this only to those who are young. But actually, there is another way of looking at this. Are you the one who may be looking down on someone who is young? If that is the case, Paul is encouraging those young people to not let that happen.

Maybe you are not looking down on someone who is physically young, but what about someone who is spiritually young. Maybe you came to the faith a little earlier than someone else. What if they see something different than you. Do you look down on them because they are “younger” than you? Do you say “Well, they just haven’t learned yet. They’re young.” Be careful. That could be spiritual pride coming out.

Let us not forget that YHWH spoke to Samuel, who was both physically and spiritually young. He had not yet learned all the “ways” of YHWH from Eli yet. Have we ever thought that might just be WHY he heard from YHWH. Just because something is the accepted norm in the faith, because that’s what all the teachers are saying, doesn’t mean that it’s right.

Be careful, YHWH could be putting a Samuel in your midst and your just looking down on them.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
